Marmara Flute Orchestra Won Bronze Medal at the World Orchestra Festival

Marmara Flute Orchestra, which carries out  its performances  within our university, won bronze medal in the category of "Featured Orchestra" at the online World Orchestra Festival, in which 140 orchestras from 33 countries participated.

Marmara Flute Orchestra was founded by Flute Player and Trainer Prof. Dr. Ece Karsal in 2015. With the financial support of Marmara University Scientific Research Projects Unit, instruments were provided and it became the first orchestra in Turkey to host all members of the flute family. Marmara Flute Orchestra consists of professional flutists from  different age categories, teachers, amateur flutists who can play the flute at an advanced level, and selected music students whose branch is flute at different education levels, including primary, secondary, high school and university level.  One of the most important purposes of the orchestra is to perform and and promote the works of Turkish composers.

Orchestra  won the right to participate in the International Wind Instruments Festival in 2016 with the concerts they gave in distinguished halls in Turkey and abroad, and performed the pieces  written by 3 Turkish composers for the Marmara Flute Orchestra for the first time on an international platform. It won the first  place in the category of "Classical Music -Orchestras" at the International Youth Festival held in Bulgaria in 2018, and also received the "Most Professional Group" award. He performed two concerts at the European Flute Ensembles Festival held in Poland in 2019. At this festival, the world premiere of Rahşan İzmirli Oğuz's piece named  "Awakening", composed for the Marmara Flute Orchestra, was held. In 2020, the orchestra performed a concert  consisting of pieces and arrangements by Turkish composers in a joint concert with "Flûtes d'Azur" conducted by Mauricio Lozano in France as part of the Flutissmo Festival.
