Established in 2010, the Green University Index Platform, which annually rates the sustainability performance of participating universities, has revealed the 2024 data, showcasing the international achievements of Turkish universities.
The platform, which includes prestigious universities worldwide, promotes internationalization, emphasizes sustainability, and aims to create global awareness of environmental consciousness. Each year, the platform evaluates and ranks universities in infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste management, water resources, transportation, and education- research.
Based on the 2024 data, Marmara University, with its “Sustainable and Eco-Friendly” campuses, has shown a rapid rise in the “World Green Campus” ranking over the past five years, reaching a score of 6460, placing 569th.
