Professor Bahattin Yalçın, from the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Art and Sciences, who attended the conference as a speaker, gave information about correct and balanced nutrition. Yalçın pointed out that the body needs a balanced diet in order to improve its defense mechanism; and seafood, milk, all kinds of vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes, shell nuts, non-extreme animal foods, healthy and clean water; and vitamins and ascorbic acid as a support should be consumed. Yalçın recommended eating fish at least once a week and also expressed the importance of taking onion, garlic, carrot, apple, kiwi and citrus into the body. Giving information about the elements in our body, Yalçın said that carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chlorine and sulfur elements constitute 99% of our bodies. Except these 11 elements, he emphasized that other elements constituting 1% of our bady, including heavy metals, are also vital for human health. Some of these elements are iron, zinc, copper, manganese, cobalt, chromium, silicon, selenium, fluorine, iodine, molybdenum, nickel, tin, arsenic, vanadium, lead, mercury. At the end of the conference, Professor. Dr. Prof. Dr. Nilhan Kayaman Apohan presented a plaque to Dr. Bahattin Yalçın.
