Within the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Turkiye, the "8th of November World Radiology Day and Virtual Reality (VR) Workshop" was organized by the Marmara University Vocational School of Health Services Medical Imaging Techniques Program.
The workshop was held in the Marmara University Kartal Campus on November 8, 2023, with the participation of Medical Imaging Techniques Program academicians, students, Meditel Healthcare Group board member Can Çelik and company employees. The event started with a moment of silence and the singing of the National Anthem.
Can Çelik gave detailed information about the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the imaging industry in the workshop, which was moderated by the Medical Imaging Techniques Program Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Dilek Özbeyli. A presentation titled "The Importance of virtual reality in Health Education and its current situation in our country" was made by Assoc. Prof. Nuran Akyurt.
In the workshop, topics such as "Technological development of x-ray devices used in radiology units of hospitals, the use and importance of virtual reality technology in health education and medical imaging education, medical imaging technologies, the current status and future of the use of artificial intelligence in medical imaging" were discussed.
The "Virtual Internship (VR) in Medical Imaging Units" module, developed within the scope of the Research Universities Support Program (ADEP 2023 call), was experienced by the users. At the event, the MEDUVR platform and virtual reality glasses were used to provide an examination experience without producing X-rays in medical imaging processes.
The event, where awareness raising was carried out with banners prepared by students about the harms of radiation and the importance of radiation protection, ended with the cutting of the "November 8 World Radiology Day" cake and a group photo.
