With its thousands of years old state tradition and civilization cumulation, our country has been fighting with PKK terror for nearly half a century.
Turkey has launched “Operation Peace Spring” on October 9, 2019, against Syrian terror threats to our security.
The operation aims to secure Turkey’s borders, to clear the region of YPG/PKK terrorists, and in this way, to save the Syrian people from the persecution of terrorists. The Operation Peace Spring, in which it is targeted the elements of PYD/YPG, which is the Syrian branch of the PKK and accepted by EU and NATO as a terrorist organization on the basis of international law, and the shelters, positions, weapons, tools and equipment of these elements, has been carried out as our right to self-defense and pursuant to UN Security Council resolution on the fight against terrorism.
Unlike some developed countries that cause human dramas and tragedies by exploiting both this region and many other geographies of the world, Turkey has never intended to invade the region and taken every precaution to prevent civilians from being harmed by ensuring peace, brotherhood, and tranquility.
In this time when all peoples from each corner of Turkey are interlocking, we, as Marmara University, wish the success of our Turkish Armed Forces for the happiness of millions of people who have been left stateless and the future of all the oppressed geographies, especially future of Syria.
