The 2023-2024 Academic Year Rectorate Tournament "MarmaraCup'24", traditionally organized every year by the Department of Health, Culture and Sports,  started with basketball and volleyball matches played at Martyr Ömer Halisdemir Sports Hall, Göztepe Campus.  The opening match, the basketball match between the Faculty of Business Administration and the Faculty of Law, was started with  Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt's jump ball.

Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çelen, General Secretary Lect. Dr. Murat Arısal, Deputy Secretary General Hasan Şahin, SKS Department Head İshak Arslan, deans, academicians and students were in the stands to watch the opening matches.

Other opening matches of the day were the volleyball matches between the Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Pharmacy, and the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The matches were accompanied by the cheers and intense participation of the students who filled the stands.
