İsmail Taşpınar, Professor of the Department of History of Religions and also Director Jerusalem Studies Application and Research Center at Marmara University, presented a historical perspective on the tension between the Palestinian and Israeli states in the interview on the haberler.com website.
Taşpınar evaluated in the conversation the tension that started with the Israeli invaders expelling Palestinians from their homes in East Jerusalem during Ramadan and then escalated with the attacks carried out in the Masjid al-Aqsa. He answered the questions such as “the establishment purpose of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Should ITT move its center to Jerusalem ?, Morocco's normalization agreement with Israel, who is responsible for the spiritual heritage of Masjid al-Aqsa?”.
Taşpınar said that Muslim countries could take a stand against Israel's human rights violations by reviewing their commercial relations with Israel. Stating that this aggressive policy carried out by Israel for a political purpose should be condemned loudly by Muslim, Christian and Jewish communities and opinion leaders, Taşpınar also underlined that the Jerusalem question is an important and current issue that should be discussed every day.
