Assoc.Prof. Mustafa Erkan of Department of International Private Law and ISTAC Chairman Prof. Dr. Ziya Akıncı made the opening speech of the panel that was attended by academicians, lawyers and students. In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Erkan said that the aim of the programme is to deal with all subjects of the arbitration and presented his thanks to the participants and especially ISTAC for their contributions. Prof. Dr. Ziya Akıncı said “The arbitration has an importance role in today’s judgement; although being a newly established institution, ISTAC has overcome the huge problem by providing the contributions to organize a series of panels dealing with such as important subject" and added “We are pleased to announce a series of panels named “Arbitration School”, having been organized by Istanbul Arbitration Centre and Marmara University. In the session, Marmara University Faculty of Law, Department of Private International Law Research Assist. Can Yöney presented his study named “Basic Principles of the Arbitration Agreement”. ISTAC Board Chair Prof. Prof. Dr. Ziya Akıncı and Esin Attorney Partnership Managing Partner Dr. Ismail Esin commentated young academician and practitioner’s studies in the panel.
Lecturer of Department of Private International Law Assoc.Prof. Mustafa Erkan, making the closing speech, presented his thanks to the speakers, audiences, especially General Secretary of Istanbul Arbitration Center and Co-Chair of a series of panels named “Arbitration School”, Lect. Dr. Candan Yasan Tepetaş, graduates of Marmara University Law of Faculty, Law Research Association, Fictional Case Club and Model United Nations Club for their contributions. The agenda of the panel took place in the media outlets such as CNNTÜRK, NTV, HABERTÜRK, VATAN.
The project, consisting of panels, taking place once a month and is intended to continue regularly for four years. It is planned tha each of panels will be held under the project including four people as a young academician and practitioner and a senior academician and a senior practitioner. In the panel, young academicians and young practitioners will make their presentations on different and significant topics about arbitration; senior academicians and senior practitioners will review and evaluate the issues discussed by young colleagues in their presentations.
