Marmara University achieved a historic success by winning 1 gold and 3 bronze medals at the 31st World University Summer Games held in Chengdu, People's Republic of China, by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) between 28 July- 8 August, 2023.
45 universities and 108 athletes from Turkey participated in the World University Games, in which 6500 athletes from 113 countries participated. Representing our country in the rowing branch in the biggest sports organization after the Olympic Games, where 269 competitions from 18 different sports branches were held and 22 games were broken. Under the coaching of Faculty Member Fatih Sani, a 5-person Rowing Team consisting entirely of students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences of our university took part.

Dr. Fatih Sani.
In this great organization, in which Turkey participated for the first time in rowing, the athletes of our university passed the qualifying and semi-finals in 4 different competition categories and qualified to compete in the A final. As a result of the A final competitions, Enes Gök won the gold medal in the first place in the Lightweight Men Double scull category; Ulaş Kurt, İnanç Şahin, Kaan Yılmaz Aydın, Ahmet Ali Kabadayı won the bronze medal in third place Men’s Four category.
