Prof.Dr. Erol Özvar, Chairman of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), announced the universities that were deemed worthy of the "Barrier-Free University Awards" given since 2018.
With the "2023 Barrier-Free Universities Award Ceremony" held at the Council of Higher Education, the awards were given to the universities by the President of the Council of Higher Education Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. In his speech, Özvar stated that they are carrying out studies under the titles of "barrier-free access" and "barrier-free education" in order to eliminate the barriers experienced in entering higher education and in the education process in order to ensure equality of opportunity in education at all levels.
Marmara University won 7 flags at the "Barrier-Free University Awards" ceremony organized by the Council of Higher Education. Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt received his award from CoHE Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar.
At the ceremony, in which Disabled Student Unit Coordinator Instructor Zuhal Özgenç Pek was also present, Marmara University was deemed worthy of 3 awards in the category of “Access to Socio-Cultural Activities” in 2023, 2 awards in the category of “Educational Accessibility”, and 2 awards in the category of “Accessibility in the Space” within the scope of the Barrier-Free University Awards.
Marmara University Faculty of Pharmacy and Faculty of Law received the Blue Flag in the category of “Accessibility in Socio-Cultural Activities”, while the Faculty of Theology and Faculty of Business were awarded the Green Flag in the category of “Educational Accessibility”. In the category of “Accessibility in Space”, Faculty of Theology and Faculty of Pharmacy were awarded the “Orange Flag” award. Thus, our university has been awarded a total of 28 flags in various categories since 2018.
