MarmaRUN Running, which started in Marmara University Anadolu Campus with the slogan of “Ready to Run in Bosphorus?”, was performed with the participants of public, university graduates, academicians and a lot of students. Rector Prof.Dr. Erol Özvar said that this organization held by the Alumni Office attracted a great deal of attention in the public and graduates, therefore, that event will be continued over the coming years.
Rector Özvar, emphasizing he was very pleasure for putting signature to such an event as Marmara University, said “A lot of friends, students, public, academicians - young and old alike- participated in this event. We started at 08:30 and have running a 10 kilometers race. We are going back to Anadolu Hisarı again at the end of the competition. Within this sport activity, our aim is to get attention to the importance of sports in our social life and bring people together through sport. This event which we organize it as Alumni Association has been sponsored by Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports and Health Directorate. The necessary substructure and security works were undertaken by the Beykoz Municipality and Istanbul Governorship. I would like to take this occasion to express my thanks to all the stakeholders. It is possible to see such sport activities from now on. I invite all Istanbul, especially Beykoz, all friends, students and academicians who set their hearts to sport to this activity.
“Our Aim Is to Be A Brand Organization”
Coordinator of Alumni Office Assoc. Prof. Bülent Yılmaz, emphasizing that Marmara University is a leading institution in field of sport, said: “Our aim is to be an organization that will bring together the importance attached to both socialization and sport by the way of branding this project. We laid the foundation of this project before 4 months ago. We want to start by helding a good running organization in Istanbul, in which all our graduates, students and people living in Istanbul would participate. With this broad participation, we hope we have established a serious stage for upcoming organizations. Our basic aim is to gather all our graduates under a single roof”.
