Marmara University Faculty of Sport Sciences Organized A Blood Donation Campaign

The Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences of Marmara University started a "Blood Donation Campaign" with the support of Kızılay ( Turkish Red Crescent) in order to contribute to national blood stocks.

Organized with the cooperation of Marmara University Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences and the Turkish Red Crescent and, of which  Marmara University Faculty of Political Sciences, Social Sciences Vocational School, Turkey Underwater Sports Federation and Turkey Football Coaches Association are stakeholders, the  Blood Donation Campaign Association began to serve in the Anadolu Hisarı Campus on 9th April and continued within the boundaries of 6 municipalities on the Anatolian side the next day.   Citizens were able to donate blood in the blood collection units established in Çekmeköy, Beykoz, Üsküdar, Ataşehir, Kadıköy and Ümraniye.

Marmara University Faculty of Sport Sciences Dean Prof. Dr. Ali Kızılet, Dean of the Faculty of Political Sciences Prof. Dr. Nail Yılmaz, Director of Social Sciences Vocational School Prof. Dr. Iclal Atilla, Beykoz Municipality Vice President Fatih Sağlam, Istanbul Metropolitan Youth and Sports Director Ilker Ozturk, Istanbul Youth and Sports Provincial Director Cemil Boz, Turkey Underwater Sports Federation Vice President Atilla Aras, Turkey Football Federation Central Referee  Committee Member Ahmet Erdogan,  Secretary-General of Amateur Sports Clubs in Istanbul Asım Özdemir, Beykoz district headmen, sports and non-governmental organizations representatives took part in the organization.  Within the scope of the campaign, which received great support from the sports community, the top class referee Mete Kalkavan, coaches Giray Bulak and Şenol Fidan also contributed to the project.

Prof. Dr. Ali Kızılet emphasized that their aim is to give a message and said, “The virus is contagious, but we believe that goodness is also contagious. Our aim was to give a  message to society in this period when blood donation was limited. Conditions are tough, but we must know how to fight with our athlete identity within the difficulties of these conditions”. Stating that their efforts were rewarded with the support of valuable participants, Kızılet talked about his future projects and added “We have good projects especially for our citizens over the age of 65 within the scope of blood donation. We will realize this project next year with the contributions of our students.”
