Marmara University's opening ceremony was held at Göztepe Campus on October 2, 2023, with the opening speech of the Director of the  School of Foreign Languages (YADYO) Prof. Dr.  Harun Duman. It was attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çelen, General Secretary  Dr. Murat Arısal and Marmara University students.

Rector Kurt made the opening speech of the 2023-2024 Academic Year Opening Ceremony and said "I congratulate the students who won our university for their success in the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS). Continuing his speech with the words " An orientation program is organized with all our units to inform our students to benefit from university life effectively and versatilely, to provide them with a road map and to welcome them to our university family", Kurt underlined that Marmara University is a research university and advised them to benefit from all the opportunities of the university.

Within the scope of the orientation events titled "My First Day in Marmara", gifts were presented to some students who were accepted to Marmara University. Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts Painting Department Head Assoc. Prof.  Devabil Kara and his students made special drawings on the walls in the Göztepe Campus. Despite the rainy weather, the marching band, including Marmara University graduates, added color to the students' first day with their music throughout the event.
