10 ranking institutions in which Turkish universities took place in 2017; Webometrics, SCIMago, US News and World Report, QS, THE, Leiden (CWTS), CWUR, RUR, ARWU and METU Informatics Institute URAP Lab. According to the result of this research; Marmara University is the 10th Turkish university in the academic success world and It ranked  8 out of 10 in institutions that sorted the universities in the World General Ranking.

Established in 2009 within the Informatics Institute of the Middle East Technical University, the URAP Laboratory (URAP Laboratory) is conducting scientific research to help universities compare their academic performance to other universities and to see their developmental aspects according to the index developed fort he ranking. During the year-long work at the URAP Laboratory; ensuring that the academic performance of universities is meticulously measured benefiting new developments. URAP's data collection and evaluation methods used in the index are revised in the light of new developments.
