July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day Commemoration Program was held in İbrahim Üzümcü Conference Hall, Goztepe Campus, Marmara University.
The program opened with a moment of silence, the National Anthem and the Quran Recitation was continued with the speech of Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Kurt said the following: “During the coup attempt, our nation went out with its youth, elders, students and faculty members, and did not give way to this treacherous attempt. As scientists, we should not be content with the speeches and activities made at the commemoration meetings during the annual patrols. We have to examine and analyze in depth the bloodiest and most brutal attempt in the history of Turkey in the light of various disciplines such as history, sociology, theology and international relations.”
After the screening of the July 15 Documentary, a concert named “Our Music from Past to Present” was presented to the guests by the academicians and graduates of the Faculty of Theology, Department of Turkish Religious Music. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Hakkı Turabi, Prof. Dr. M. Safa Yeprem, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Başak Harmancı, Research Assist. Hacı Osman Paçaoğlu and Marmara University Turkish Religious Music Graduate Program Graduate Mert Nar took part in the choir.
Marmara University Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Celen, Prof. Dr. Ömer Akgiray, Secretary General Lect. Dr. Murat Arısal and the directors of academic and administrative units, as well as a large crowd, attended the "Awarded Paintings on July 15" exhibition within the scope of the program. The event ended with a plaque presentation and a photo shoot.
