“Marmara Metaverse Summit” was organized by Marmara University Innovation, Technology, Transfer Application and Research Center (MITTO). The event carried out in order to make an academic-based and qualified definition about Metaverse was organized in a hybrid way.
The opening speech of the event held in İbrahim Üzümcü Conference Hall was delivered by Prof. Dr. Bahadır Tunaboylu from the Faculty of Engineering and Lect. Dr. Mustafa Şengör, MITT Director. While Tunaboylu introduced the topics to be discussed in the context of Metaverse and NFT in his speech, Şengör introduced in his speech the MxStartup Project, which aims at entrepreneurship and consultancy in the field of technology.
In her presentation titled “A View of Art in the Context of the Metaverse”, Prof. Dr. Mine Biret Tavman, Head of Textile Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, talked about the possibilities offered by the virtual world to art and the artists working in this field. Delivering the speech titled “Typewriter and Metaverse”, Prof. Dr. Olcay Bige Aşkun from the Faculty of Business Administration talked about the changes in technology tools from past to present and conveyed the differences of the Metaverse universe. Sadullah Uzun, Vice President of TÜBİTAK BİLGEM, discussed the history of the concept of Metaverse and shared what can be done at the last point it has reached.
Lun Family Company Founder Selen Lun, NFT Entrepreneur Berke Yağız, Blockchain-Cryptocurrency Trainer Devrim Danyal, Designer, Trainer Bager Akbay, Chief Specialist Buket Calp from Marmara University Teknopark A.Ş., Ercan Altuğ Yılmaz, Research Assistant Afra Çalık from Hacettepe University, Chief Researcher from TÜBİTAK BİLGEM Dr. İsa Sertkaya, Serdar Ekrem Şirin from the Turkish Design Foundation and Academician Atıl Samancıoğlu took place as speakers at the summit.
