Within the scope of the Presidential Circular, the year 2021 was declared as the "Year of Mehmet Akif and the National Anthem" as it is the 100th anniversary of the National Anthem. For this reason, Marmara University Turkic Studies Institute organized activities within the scope of “Mehmet Akif and the Year of the National Anthem”.

Within the framework of the activities held in March, "Mehmet Akif Ersoy and the Turkish National Anthem Panel" was held in memory of the 100th Anniversary of the Adoption of the Turkish National Anthem. The opening speech of the panel was made by our Rector Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar. While Director of the Institute of Turkic Studies Prof. Dr. Okan Yeşilot chaired its session,  Prof. Dr. Salim Çonoğlu, Prof Dr. Şaban Sağlık, Prof. Dr. Muhammet Gür ve Dr. Mehdi Genceli took part as speakers with their papers respectively  "Mehmet Akif's Poetry and Struggle", "Codes of the National Anthem", "Century-old Findings from Asım: Criticism and Solutions",  "Mehmet Akif and the Turkish World".

The events organized within the Institute of Turkic Studies were ended with the following programs titled "Mehmet Akif Ersoy and the National Anthem Programs in Memory of the 100th Anniversary of the Acceptance of National Anthem" and "Safahat Readings", which was moderated by Dr. Mehdi Genceli.
