Delegates of the 4th Ordinary General Assembly voted for the candidates who are Assoc. Prof. Şahin Özen and Sinan Böyükparmaksız in the presidential election of the TUSF held at Hotel İçkale, Çankaya, Ankara on November 12, 2016, which also former presidents of the TUSF attended. After the voting, M.U. Faculty of Sport Sciences academician Assoc. Prof. Şahin Özen re-elected for the presidency of TUSF.
In the election, new Administrative Board and permanent and substitute members of Supervisory and Disciplinary Board also were elected. Evaluating the results of the voting Assoc. Prof. Şahin Özen said “I wish the election results bring good luck to our federation. I most particularly like to mention the pride of being re-elected for the TUSF presidency by the venerable delegates.”. Assoc. Prof. Şahin Özen expressed his sincere thanks to all the delegates who voted or did not voted for himself, administrative, supervisory and discipline board members in a democratic election environment. Assoc. Prof. Özen said “I want to note that I will work with all sincerity and honesty to solve our problems, to carry out new projects and to put our signature under new successes in consultation with every single unit and delegate as I’m conscious of the fact that our federation history is a station of very serious responsibility and also dedication.”
Assoc. Prof. Özen noted that with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Youth and Sports General Directorate, they crown the dedicated and disciplined success of youth services and sport provincial/district directorates, sport club centers, provincial delegates of federation TUSF Administrative Board Members and administrative staff with international medals of clubs, successful sportspeople and national teams. Assoc. Prof. Özen said “In the last year, we gained the world championship in finswimming and the world second prize in the underwater hockey as male national team. We, also hosted two important international contests. In this new term, we also experienced something new for the very first time. Male Young Underwater Rugby National Team became the European championship, for the first time attending the Confédération Mondiale des Activités Subaquatiques (CMAS) Open Europe and European Youth Underwater Sports Championship held in Sandefjord, on November 12-13 Norway not so long after the election. I compliment on the team wholeheartedly.”
Assoc. Prof. Özen said “On the occasion of successful organization in the international contests held in our country, CMAS decided to hold CMAS Finswimming Inter-club Golden Final World Cup, Sport Diving European Championship, International Sport Diving Championship and 2018 Finswimming World Youth Championship in Turkey. In the new term, we will increase the number of qualified trainers, sportsmen, instructor divers and lifesavers. We will continue to support financially our clubs and centers on the scale of our budged. We will empower our solution-oriented communication network with every segment of our underwater society with workshops and seminars. We will start joint training projects in the branches of diving and sports with the collaboration of CMAS. We will enhance the qualification of our trainers and lifesavers with the seminars in the framework of ILS collaboration. We will continue to enhance our collaboration repertoire with universities and education organizations. We will develop educational material by upgrading.” for the activities and projects held with a family and team spirit of underwater society in order to achieve “sustainable success” in the new term.
