Before the first senate meeting of 2023 year, a special ceremony was held for our academicians of our university, who received the TÜBA-GEBİP Outstanding Young Scientist Award. Under the chairmanship of Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, all senate members and award-winning academicians attended the ceremony that was held in İbrahim Üzümcü Conference Hall.
Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, on behalf of the entire university, thanked the award-winning faculty members for helping the name of Marmara University be included in such an important success and gave the following statements in his speech: “We have always supported, encouraged and proud of all our academicians who have achieved great success at the national and international level. I have absolute faith that the success of all our academicians will continue to increase and they will contribute to our research university status. In this environment where all our academic units are also present, I think that our academicians should be supported, motivated and encouraged by increasing cooperation by our administrative units in order to increase our important achievements.”
Following of the rector's speech, academicians who received the TÜBA-GEBİP Outstanding Young Scientist Award were invited to the podium, and certificates of achievement and encouragement were presented.
Assoc. Prof. Ali Erken, who received TÜBA-GEBİP Outstanding Young Scientist Award in the field of Political History in the Social Sciences category, was presented his certificate by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut. Lect. Dr. Seçil Yıldırım Karaman, who was entitled to receive her award in the field of Economics in the Social Sciences category, was given her certificate by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt and Dean of the Faculty of Economics Prof. Dr. Sadullah Çelik.
After the presentation of the certificates of achievement and encouragement, both academics gave brief information about the awards they received and the work they have done. The ceremony ended after the speeches stating that they were honored to represent the name of the university in important places.
