Faculty of Pharmacy Prof.S. Güniz Küçükgüzel PhD delivered the opening speech of the symposium and mentioned the necessity of pharmacists, the world's medical profession in the field of herbal products, their position in the legal arrangements on this matter and  the need for cooperation with physicians and pharmacists on the treatment with plants.

Prof. Ekrem Sezik PhD, Prof. Kemal Hüsnü Can Başer PhD, Prof.Ömür Demirezer PhD, Prof.Murat Kartal PhD , Prof. Hasan Kırmızıbekmez PhD, Prof. Şükran Kültür PhD , Prof.Canfeza Sezgin PhD and Pharmacis Aslı Yazicioglu were invited as distinguished academicians in this field to give information about ethnobotany (folk remedies / plant-human relationship) starting from the importance of correct diagnosis of medical plants which can be used for treatment; Turkey’s significant aromatic herbs and essential oils; clinical use of aromatherapine; the mistakes and correctness of health use of plants; phytotherapid oncology; the importance of quality control in herbal products and a skipped topic; plant-drug interactions  have been discussed. The important potential of plants and herbal medicines  for treatment has been presented to the audience  with scientific evidences.   

The symposium, which has attracted great interest from students, has been highlighted in many ways and the importance of the "correct use of medical plants", which is the main theme, has been underlined once again. 12 poster presentations prepared by the students of different pharmacy faculties and presented by them in oral presentation. As a result of the evaluation of the scientific jury, the poster of "Poster for the improvement of the effectiveness of the turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) in daily use" presented by the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Bezmialem University  has been deemed worthy of first prize.
