The "National MaSCo Student Congress" opening, organized every year under the leadership of Marmara University Faculty of Medicine students, was held on Thursday, 23rd May, at the Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Conference Hall.

Marmara University Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Hakan Gündüz stated in the congress opening speech that he was very happy to be present at the opening of MaSCo, which has been successfully continuing for a quarter of a century and growing steadily. He stated that education at the Faculty of Medicine does not remain in theory but turns into practice for students and that the development of organizational skills contributes to their lives.

Dean of Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Ümit Süleyman Şehirli stated that MaSCo is an important Marmara University Faculty of Medicine tradition. He stated that the research conducted as a compulsory part of the curriculum is presented in a congress environment that can be called a science festival at the end of the year, and Masco hosts such a science festival. Dean of Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Ümit Süleyman Şehirli stated that MaSCo is an important Marmara University Faculty of Medicine tradition. 

Speaker at the opening conference Neurosurgeon Prof. Dr. Serdar Baki Albayrak made his presentation titled "Innovation in Medicine: Innovative Steps in Surgical Art".

MaSCo'24, which will continue at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Social Complex Health Campus until May 25, will offer participants many experiences, including conferences and workshops held by experts in their fields. The "experimental" and "observational" research prepared by medical students together with their advisors throughout the academic year will be evaluated by expert and impartial juries in their fields. As a result of the evaluation, the winning research will be rewarded.
