A Leading Cooperation Between  Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry and Nederman Company

With the current SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, preventing transmission of disease in dental practices where the risk of infection is highest has become even more important.  By increasing the infection risk measures already taken by Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry, which is the most technological Faculty of Dentistry in our country and Europe, implementations that protect patient health and minimize the risk of infection are maintained. In this context, initial findings of the research conducted jointly by the Marmara University Faculty of Dentistry and Nederman company were shared. In the pilot study carried out with Nederman Aerosol Control Systems, it was determined that the aerosol particles scattered into the environment significantly decreased.

Prof. Dr. Yasemin Özkan, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Marmara University, made the following statements respecting the study: "Preserving patient health is our primary goal. Besides performing dental treatments, protecting our patients from the risk of cross-infection is among our most important duties. We, as a faculty, had a healthy pandemic period. At the same time, we follow new technological developments and implement their applications in our research center and thus increase our treatment quality day by day. In the pilot study we conducted, we obtained very important findings that could reduce the risk of infection and sent the results we obtained to a scientific journal. Now we are expanding this study and making it more comprehensive. Özkan stated that they will continue their leading work as faculty.
