Marmara University was represented for the first time this year at the APAIE (Asia-Pasific Association for International Education) Conference and Fair held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, between 13-17 March 2023.
Universities and stakeholder institutions from all over the world, especially from the Far East, and South and Southeast Asian Regions got the opportunity to negotiate issues such as signing new agreements and collaborations, working on joint projects, and developing existing partnerships. The Conference and Fair organization brought higher education institutions in Asia-Pacific countries closer to western universities and provided the opportunity to sign student and academic staff exchange programs.
At the participation with the encouragement and support of the Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, our university was represented by the International Relations and Academic Cooperation Office General Coordinator Prof. Dr. Nuri Tınaz and Lect. Dr. Ömer Mert Denizci. It was discussed to carry out Erasmus+ KA171 projects in areas of common interest with Asia-Pacific countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Singapore and to expand existing projects to different fields. In addition, meetings were held with the representatives of European countries such as Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Poland, Croatia, and a mutual consensus was reached on making new Erasmus+ KA131 agreements and diversifying our existing partnerships on the basis of different faculties and departments. Conference and Fair events came to an end to meet in Australia next year.
