The Programme started with the music concert that was given by Assoc.Dr.Hyun SOOKTEKİN at Marmara University and Lecturer Assist.Prof. Elif Tarakçı AKYAR at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.
After the concert, Our University Rector Prof.M. Emin ARAT made a speech at the opening.
During his speech, Rector reported that Europen Union is not limited to the only economic relations but it is also an big project in which a single market is created among the member countries and union acquis constituting of the legal framework for living together is applied and in this sense, the borders among members countries have lost their de facto significiance . Then he continued "European Union that its foundations were laid with six member countries in the early 1950s is a project bringing people together, which includes half billion people and have accrossed the continent with its 28 member countries today. In other words, new ground was broken by European Union to take concrete steps aimed at bringing all people together who had gone to fight with each other for centruies. We have witnessed that the thinks of the European people about the peace settlement in the continent is coming true as desired and we are glad about it.”
After Rector’s speech, Assist.Prof.Emirhan GÖRAL made a presentation about “University Youth’s Perception of the European Union: A General Evaluation of Surveys 2004 and 2014 of Marmara University”.
At the end of the event, Moderator Prof.Dr. Muzaffer DARTAN and The Undersecretary of the Ministry for EU Affairs, Ambassador Rauf Engin SOYSAL responded to the questions of the participants.
