The opening ceremony of the "Education in Primary School from Today to the Future - Problems and Solutions Workshop", organized in cooperation with Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education Teacher Academies and Marmara University Atatürk Education Faculty Basic Education Department Classroom Teaching Department to determine the problems experienced in primary school education and to reveal possible solutions, was held at the Marmara University Göztepe Campus İbrahim Üzümcü Conference Hall on 25th April, 2022.
At the event started with a music concert of the Marmara University Turkish Music Ensemble that was performed under the direction of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Uslu, Deputy of the Atatürk Faculty of Education Basic Education Department Dr. Bülent Özden gave a speech about the general purpose of the workshop and the program flow. “Like every system, the education system also aims to achieve quality outputs in line with its objectives. These goals are affected by the changes that occur in society and the individual. For this reason, the education system has to keep up with the dynamic process. Only in this way can we have a system that can achieve its goals. One of the important driving forces of continuous change and development is to identify existing problems and find the right solutions. In this way, I believe that the targeted quality in education can be achieved.” said Dr. Özden in his speech.
Chair of the Atatürk Faculty of Education Department of Basic Education Prof. Dr. Midrabi Cihangir Doğan, in her opening speech, said, “As expressed in the general objectives of the Turkish National Education System, children are not alone in becoming physically, mentally and mentally healthy, qualified, productive and conscious consumers who know and use their democratic rights and freedoms. The quality of educational opportunities offered to children is also an important determinant in achieving these goals.
Provincial Director of National Education Levent Yazıcı gave a speech on the historical process of important developments in the education system and the current system. Speaking about the importance of the guidance system in schools, Yazıcı said, “One of the dimensions covering the school is guidance. Having a strong guidance system is very important in the multi-faceted development of that school, in identifying the problems correctly and in managing the developmental stages. Yazıcı ended his speech by thanking Marmara University Rectorate and Atatürk Education Faculty Classroom Teaching Department for their hosting and support of the workshop.
Dean of the Atatürk Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Seyfi Kenan gave a speech emphasizing the importance and purpose of the event by saying, "What kind of problems we encountered while shaping the basic education from today to the future, what we may encounter from now on, and how we can find solutions to these problems together is a really important issue."
“Education is one of the most important activities of human life and, at the same time, one of the cornerstones of the development and progress of societies. Therefore, it is very valuable for us that such an important issue, especially basic education, is handled in such a workshop and evaluated by experts. For this reason, I would like to thank the employees of the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, Atatürk Education Faculty Academicians and all participants who contributed to the organization of the workshop” Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt said in his speech.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Uslu was presented a plaquette by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, while Istanbul Provincial Director of National Education Levent Yazıcı was presented his plaquette by Dean of the Atatürk Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Seyfi Kenan.
