At the opening of the meeting, Vice Rector of Marmara University Professor Mustafa Kurt said the aim of the workshop was to provide equal opportunities in education. He talked about the works and the services made for this purpose. Lecturer Zuhal Pek started the workshop with a speech on the purpose of the workshop. She said in her speech that the basic problem of university students with hearing impairments is that they cannot obtain the necessary equipment in their past education lives. In addition, the branche teachers who do not know the sign language as a support language is a serious problem, he added. He pointed out the necessity of giving sign language lessons to prospective teachers who are raised in education faculties. In the end of his speech, he said TID formation should be taken into action for standardization and improvement. At the end of the workshop, a decision to start the development and improvement activities about the subject was taken by forming a working group.
