Prof. Dr. Abdullah Bereket of the Marmara University Faculty of Medicine Clinical Pediatric Endocrinology won the European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) “Outsanding Clinician” (Distinguished Clinician) award. The award was announced at the 60th Pediatric Endocrinology congress held in Rome on September. In his presentation speech of the award, 16. Congress President Prof. Dr. Stefano Cianfarani explained that Prof. Abdullah Bereket was given this award because of his original and high-quality scientific studies with his team so far, his contributions to the development of Pediatric Endocrinology in Turkey and Europe, Public health and preventive medicine oriented studies on the screening, prevention and treatment of endocrinological diseases in children during the Presidency of the Turkish Society of Pediatric Endocrinology and his contributions to the education of young Pediatric Endocrinologists both in Europe and in Turkey.
The European Society for Pediatric Endocrinology (ESPE) “Outsanding Clinician” award is an award given to people who make outstanding contributions to the field of Clinical Pediatric Endocrinology. ESPE members can nominate candidates for this award, and the ESPE award committee makes an evaluation among those nominated and the person who is deemed worthy of the award is announced at that year's congress. To be nominated and selected for this award, it is necessary to have pioneered and contributed to the field of Pediatric Endocrinology both regionally and globally in education, research and improving patient care.
