Marmara University Wind Energy and Virtual Experience Center Opens

The "Wind Energy and Virtual Experience Center" opening ceremony, organized in collaboration between Marmara University and Nordex Energy, took place on Wednesday, June 5th at the Marmara University Recep Tayyip Erdogan Complex, Technology Faculty. The ceremony was attended by Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, Nordex Energy Turkey Service Director Ferit Yesilay, Marmara University academicians, university staff and students.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt, the Rector of Marmara University, welcomed the attendees stating, "Welcome to the opening ceremony of the 'Wind Energy and Virtual Experience Center,' the first and only wind experience workshop in our country, which encourages our students to gain knowledge and experience in the field of renewable energy through the collaboration between Marmara University and Nordex Energy A.S."

Kurt continued, "Today, we have come together to take one of the most important steps in our collaboration with Nordex Energy, one of the strong energy institutions of our country. The collaboration between Nordex Energy, a leading brand in the Turkish wind turbine market, and our university, is extremely gratifying as a responsibility they have taken in our country and as a part of this responsibility."

Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt also stated in his speech, "Wind energy, recognized today as a sustainable future and a clean energy source, is one of the strongest steps towards a sustainable future. This collaboration with a brand ranking at the forefront of the Turkish wind turbine market is highly gratifying." Kurt also thanked Assoc. Prof. Dr. Savas Evran from the Faculty of Applied Sciences for his contributions throughout the process.

After the opening speech, Nordex Energy Turkey Service Director Ferit Yesilay expressed his pride and excitement in being part of such an initiative. Yesilay said, "The world is turning towards sustainable energy sources with rapidly changing and evolving technologies. Wind energy is critical in this transformation as an environmentally friendly and renewable energy source. Marmara University's steps in this field demonstrate a great vision and responsibility towards the future. The opening of this center once again underscores your university's commitment and high awareness in innovation and renewable energy."

Physical Access and Virtual Reality Combined

Yesilay added, "The center we are opening today not only provides physical access to wind turbine components and safety equipment for students but also offers many opportunities through virtual reality. The education and practical applications provided at this center will educate future engineers, technical personnel, and energy experts who will graduate as equipped, knowledgeable, and highly aware individuals in the field of wind energy."

Yesilay expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in this project, especially to the management, academic and administrative staff of Marmara University, who have shown dedication and support.

The event concluded with the opening ceremony of the laboratory and a tour of the facilities.
