Organized in cooperation with Marmara University Health, Culture and Sports Department and Turkish Chess Federation, the “It’s Your Move To  Quit An Addiction Chess Tournament” was held on March 29, 2022 at the Martyr Ömer Halisdemir Indoor Sports Hall in Göztepe Campus.

The opening move of the tournament was made by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt and Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut. Prof.  Kurt said, “We will break the addiction together by focusing on sports. I would like to thank everyone who participated in the tournament and wish success to our competitors. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt and Deputy Secretary-General Hasan Şahin also played a chess match by sharing the excitement of the students.

The award ceremony of the tournament was held on 30 March 2022 at Ömer Halisdemir Indoor Sports Hall. Winner Yunus Orak was presented his trophy and gift by  Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Korkut. Yılmaz Yaman, taking second in the tournament, was presented his award by  Lect. Dr. Murat Arısal, General Secretary. Berkay Ataçoğlu won third place and received his award from Deputy Secretary-General Hasan Şahin. The students taking fourth and fifth place and five persons drawn by lot from among the participating students were given gifts by thanking them for their participation.
