Within the scope of the campaign launched in Marmara University Pendik Education and Research Hospital five months ago, all employess of the hospital and their children donated their hair for cancer patients to make wigs for them.
With the permission of Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate and Chief Physician Prof. Dr. İsmail Cinel, nearly 100 people donated their hair for the needs of wigs of oncology patients who have been under treatment for a long time in Pendik Research Hospital. The hospital hairdresser cuts the hair free of charge until now and seven wigs were given to patients treated.
Simay Yöndem, 4, was one of those who donated her hair for the campaign which was initiated to create awareness and morale for cancer patients. She said: "I give my hair to my brothers and sisters, I am very happy". Hospital employees aim to spread the campaign across the country.
