The history of botanical studies in the World and Turkey, the research subjects of botany, branches of botanical science, disciplines such as bioengineering, environmental engineering, forest engineering, landscape architecture which are associated with botany, botanical gardens in the city, arboretums, herbaria, botanical education and climate change was discussed at the program.
In her speech, Özyiğitoğlu explained that the herbariums are plant museums that are dried and maintained without losing their important characteristics. Herbariums also serve as training and research centers. Arboretums are botanical gardens dedicated to the cultivation of other woody plants with trees. Although such gardens are used for scientific research and observations, she mentioned that they are museums that contain live tree species. In the last part of her speech, she emphasized that the most effective way to prevent climate change is through botanical science and afforestation practices.
