100th Anniversary of the Turkish National Anthem Was Marked by A  Panel titled “ Mehmet Akif Ersoy and National Anthem"

On the occasion of the announcing of 2021 as the Year of the Turkish National Anthem by the Turkey Grand National Assembly due to the 100th anniversary of the acceptance of our National Anthem that was written by the national poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy,  a panel titled "Mehmet Akif Ersoy and the National Anthem" was organized by Marmara University Turkic Studies Institute. The panel was held on March 12, via a live broadcast on our university's Youtube channel.

While  Prof. Dr. Okan Yeşilot took over session chair of the panel,  the opening speech of the panel was made by our Rector Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar.  Expressing his gratitude to everyone who contributed to the panel preparation, especially the Institute of Turkic Studies, Özvar  said "The identity, art, and literary of our National Poet Mehmet Akif Ersoy, who is the author of our Turkish National Anthem, will be better understood through the work of our esteemed teachers." Subsequently, Özvar shared with the participants the article written by the poet Sezai Karakoç on the death of Mehmet Akif Ersoy.

The speakers shared the literary and historical information under the following headings with the audience;  Prof. Dr. Salim Çonoğlu: "Mehmet Akif's Poetry and Struggle", Prof. Dr. Şaban Sağlık: "Codes of the Turkish National Anthem", Prof. Dr. Muhammet Gür: "Century-old Findings from Asım: Criticism and Solutions" and Dr. Mehdi Genceli: "Mehmet Akif and the Turkish World".
